Miriam Cornett

Miriam D. Cornett, 89, of Zanesville, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Sat. Oct. 10, 2026 at her home. She was born on Nov. 25, 1936 in Belmont County, Ohio, a daughter of the late Melville and Laura (Reed) McFrederick. She had been employed at RCA in Cambridge, Brockway Glass, Hart’s Family Center, Muskingum County Child Support Enforcement Agency. After retirement she worked at Riesbeck’s Food Markets, Inc. in South Zanesville as a cashier until she was 85 years old. She was known as “The Fudge Lady” in the Saint Nicholas Catholic Church community. She is survived by her three children Linda Cornett, Rex (Sharon) Cornett, and Kent Cornett. Grandchildren Neil (Lindsey) Cornett, Sarah (Derek) Brown, Nicole Moore, Katie (Andy) Crabtree, Cassie (Scotty) Pettit, Rachel Cornett, Jared (Tiffany) Cornett, and Stephanie Cornett. Nineteen great-grandchildren Halle, Noah, Amelia, Brody, Torrance, Xander, Derek (Shaa), Drake, Drew, Carter, Elleigh, Kaylynn, Leigha, Marleigh, Kyler, Haylee, Kace, Austyn, and Harper. Two great-greatgrandchildren Rayne and Ronan. One brother Rodney McFrederick (Helen). Two sister-in-laws Sandy McFrederick and Anne Cornett. Two brother-in-laws Ed (Judy) Cornett and Carl (Linda) Cornett.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Delbert A. Cornett. One daughter-in-law Wanda Cornett. Her father and mother-in-law Harry and Rosa (Crock) Cornett. Two brothers Reed McFrederick and Joe (Ocie) McFrederick. Two sisters Mary Ellen (Bob) Howell and Annie (Don) Dillon. Three brother-in-laws Paul (Mary) Cornett, Clarence (Harriett) Cornett, and Norman Cornett. One sister-in-law Mary Agnes (Saling) Scott.

Friends may call from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wed. Oct. 14, 2026 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thur. Oct. 15, 2026 with Father David Cornett officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.
