Zanesville’s Scarecrow Row

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Zanesville is celebrating the Halloween season by displaying locally crafted scarecrows and offering you an opportunity to vote for your favorite.
Zanesville-Muskingum County Convention and Visitors Bureau Manager Jordin Harmer described how you can participate in the downtown scarecrow contest and explained how you can learn more about all of the other events that are set to take place across Muskingum County this fall.
“Yeah, so every year for the past 6 years, we have done the Y-City Scarecrow Contest and every year it gets more creative as we go. So this year we have 50 entries and those entries line Main Street. We have lots of community members that are participating and we invite the public, visitors and the locals to come in and vote on their favorite scarecrow,” Harmer said.
Each scarecrow has a Q-R Code attached that will link you to visitzanesville.com. The webpage provides pictures of the scarecrows that you can click on to vote for your favorite. The scarecrows and the contest will be removed October 31st.
“So all of our tourism partners are very creative. And we have so many events happening throughout not just Zanesville but Muskingum County. So we have a community calendar to keep everything organized on our website at www.visitzanesville.com. And it is updated every 24 hours. So you can go to visitzanesville.com and there is something to do every day of the week,” Harmer said.
Additionally, between 2 and 10 p.m. this Saturday, October 17th, A Taste of Ohio: Wine, Bourbon and Beer will be hosting the first annual Y-City Music Fest at 524 East Main Street in Zanesville. The kid friendly event will feature an array of local musicians.
