55th Annual Apple Butter Stirrin’ Festival shows a rainy, but strong start

COSHOCTON, Ohio – It may have been rainy in the Historic Roscoe Village but that didn’t stop the 55th Annual Apple Butter Stirrin’ Festival.
Historic apple butter stirrin’ stations can be found throughout the length North Whitewoman Street along with nearly 100 different vendors. There’s also chainsaw carving demonstrations, black smithing demonstrations, a petting zoo and food trucks. Clarrisa Roof has been a part of the festival committee for five years and is the operations assistant for the Village of Roscoe.
“Fall is my favorite season. So, this is my favorite time in the village, this is also the busiest time in the village. This is our biggest event. So, I just like, you know, see all the people here enjoying what I get to enjoy year-round,” Roof said.
The Coshocton County event has live music throughout the weekend and broom hockey for the children. The Apple Butter Stirrin’ Festival is also an opportunity to check out local businesses like Indian Bear and Huck’s Tavern.
“Obviously along the street here, we have shops and restaurants that operate year-round. And then of course we have the Roscoe Village Foundation that operates tours of the historic exhibits in the village too,” Roof said. “And an event like this pulls in so much business and does so much for the economy of Roscoe Village for the rest of the year. You know, this is our highest attended event so a weekend like this, for these shops is really helpful.”
The 55th Annual Apple Butter Stirrin’ Festival continues tomorrow from 10 a.m to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. More information can be found on the Historic Roscoe Village’s website. Admission is $10 per person with children 12 and under getting in for free.
