Newark Woman Killed In Accident

A Newark woman was killed in a two vehicle crash Friday morning on Ohio 37 in near Granville.

The Granville Post of the Highway Patrol says 21-year-old Jessica Buchanon was driving east on 37, went left of center and slammed head-on into a semi-tractor trailer. It was driven by 43-year-old Nicholas Roberts, also of Newark.

Troopers say weather was not a factor in the crash and its possible Buchanon fell asleep at the wheel.

About 75 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled in the crash which kept that part of the roadway close from around 6:00 this morning until around 1:00 this afternoon.

The Environmental Protection Agency was called in to help in the diesel fuel cleanup.
