Michael Goins

Michael Wayne Goins, age 84, passed away peacefully in Pataskala, Ohio, after a long illness. Born on November 1, 1941, in Zanesville, Ohio, he was the cherished son of the late Raymond and Edna Goins. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps.
Affectionately known as “Mike,” he was a man defined by rhythm, joy, and deep connection to those around him. In his earlier years, he expressed his love for music through the trumpet, a passion that stayed with him throughout his life as he filled his home with the timeless jazz sounds of Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Armstrong.
An enthusiastic traveler, excellent auto mechanic, and novice golfer, he was also a passionate sports fan. Autumn weekends were spent cheering loudly for his favorite football teams—the Zanesville Blue Devils, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the New York Jets. Spring and summer were filled with sofa commentary for his cherished New York Yankees. Yet, his absolute favorite place to be was around a table with good company. Nothing defined an ultimate weekend for Mike quite like a competitive game of Bid Whist, a warm bowl of chili, a crispy piece of fish, Pepsi flowing, and plenty of laughs and joy shared with his family and friends.
He is survived by his bonus son, Chad (WillaMarie) Jackson; daughter, Annjanette “Angie” Martin; granddaughters, Ashley and Amber Goins; grandsons, Julian and Creed; great-granddaughter, Ahmyla Goins; and a host of cousins and a wide circle of dear friends, including his Hands of Faith Church family, who brought immense warmth to his life.
Michael is resting in the arms of the Lord and reunited with his beloved wife, Sandee Goins; his son, Michael Goins Jr.; and his parents, Raymond F. and Edna D. Goins.
In accordance with his wishes and in lieu of a memorial service, we invite all who knew and loved him to celebrate his life in their own special way: hold onto a heart full of joy, remember his infectious laughter, listen to a great jazz record, grab a Donald’s donut, and enjoy time with loved ones.
