ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Kids had the day off from school but, they still had a chance to learn in a classroom environment at OUZ-Zane State Campus Center.

The Cardboard Challenge is an interactive day-long camp where kids were able to work with and create things out of paper. The challenge was creating a piece of an arcade with cardboard.

“Caine’s Arcade, which was the story of a young man who spent the summer in his dad’s automotive shop and he made an arcade out of cardboard and tried to get people to come in and play the arcade. The challenge is going to be is for the kids to design arcade games out of cardboard,” said Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center Christie McGee.

McGee said kids are able to get a hands-on experience with the cardboard challenge that’s different from a normal day in the classroom.

“Creativity, problem-solving, kind of just investigating, engineering, there’s math, there’s science, all those types of things and then also the idea of using old materials to make something new,” said McGee.
