Giving Tuesday at Giacomo’s

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties partnered up with Giacomo’s as a way to give back to the community on this year’s Giving Tuesday.
Giving Tuesday is a global giving movement where people are asked to give back to the community. After Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is a way to help out those who are less fortunate during the holiday season.
“What we want to do with this local partnership with Giacomo’s is to partner locally because what United Way does is we, of course, raise money that stays local. And so for every dollar we raise in our campaign it really does go right back to the local community. So we really want that to spread and we want to continue to build these partnerships with entities like Giacomo’s,” said Resource Development Director Katie McNeil.
There was a donation jar at the counter of Giacomo’s so people could donate money throughout the day. All money collected will go to United Way. H.R. Manager Macey McFarland said Giving Tuesday is a kick off to the giving season.
“It’s good to just reflect and remember what this season’s all about and remember those that maybe sometimes feel forgotten. The programs that maybe nobody knows about, but it’s been really educational for us and for our staff. It’s been really a great time for reflection,” said McFarland.
If you would like to donate, and weren’t able to make it out to Giacomo’s, you can donate on United Way’s Facebook page.
