Fellowship meeting at The Fieldhouse
ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A gym is working to bring a Christian based chapter to the area for all local high school and college students.
The meeting will be at the Fieldhouse and is for athletes, coaches, and parents interested in bringing Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Athletes in Action chapter to Muskingum and surrounding counties. Athletic Director at West Muskingum High School Aaron Bates said building a strong Christian foundation is a key.
“Your foundation is your faith in Jesus Christ and we’ve experienced that. I experienced it as a group, when I was in college at Michigan State. Athletes in Action, a lot of the opportunities I had to grow in my faith there and I just like to help some of these high school kids gain that foundation at a younger age,” said Bates.
The meeting will cover how coaches and athletes can best use sports to serve the community. Fieldhouse owner Mick Amicone said the meeting will cover multiple Christian values athletes can use.
“One is the seven habits of a grateful athlete and that’s a program that’s offered by the Athletes in Action. It just talks about Athletes that are grateful and give God all the glory for their success There’s a growing concern among youth. specifically ages 6-16 of them leaving sports, more importantly, leaving exercise and fitness,” said Amicone.
The meeting will be on Saturday, December 9th from 9 am to 10 am in the Fieldhouse’s community classroom. If you would like more information, you can contact the Fieldhouse’s at 740-454-2224.
