Ruth Maxine (Eppley) Spring 1929 – 2017
Ruth Maxine (Eppley) Spring, formerly of Zanesville, died December 2, 2017, at the home of her son in Delaware, Ohio. She was born October 30, 1929, on Dutch Hill in Morgan County, the daughter of Ralph Eppley and Leah (Divers) Eppley. She married Richard “Dick” P. Spring on December 2, 1950 and was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
Ruth graduated high school at the age of 16, as the Valedictorian of her class and graduated second in her nursing class. She was a lifelong nurse, first at Bethesda Hospital where she worked for years in the Emergency Room, and then, at Six County Mental Health Center. Nursing was her passion.
Ruth was heavily involved in St. Luke’s Lutheran Church for years, where she loved directing the Chancellor Choir and later singing in the choir and playing piano for Sunday School. Along with her husband Dick, Ruth was very involved with the Boys Scouts and where both dedicated many years to the organization.
Ruth is survived by two sons: Richard “Rick” Paul (Sherri Lynn Gates) Spring, II and Tim Alan (Becky McBroom) Spring. She has five grandchildren: Daniel Jared, Jeremy James, Trinda Marie (Durboraw) Andrew and Leah Spring. She has eight great-grandchildren, Jordanna, Serenity, Destiny, Daniel Jared “DJ”, Chelcee, Makenna Spring, and Tyler and Colton Walter. Ruth leaves a wonderful sister, Norma Darner of Zanesville, a daughter-in-law, Darla Archibald Spring of Pataskala, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband Dick, whom she loved dearly, her parents, and two sons: John Ralph Spring, and Todd Andrew Spring.
