Muskingum Rec Center Kicks off Thinner Winner

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Just days into the new year, Tis the season for new years resolutions! One local recreation center is using their facility to help those in the local community achieve their new implemented goals.

Sunday The Muskingum Recreation Center kicked off the first night of their annual “Thinner Winner” 2018 challenge.

“Thinner Winner is a team weight loss challenge. The team that loses the greatest percentage of weight from their beginning weight to their end weight, an average of the whole team will have a chance to win a $1,000 cash prize. With that, every person that is not a member of our facility that is on a team, they had to get a membership so now they have a membership. They get to take all classes, it’s for 8 weeks and at the end of the 8 weeks we have a final weigh-out,” said Event Manager, Becky Weir.

With various classes held all throughout the week, Weir said it excites her to do all she can to help those striving to lose weight.

“It’s very exciting and rewarding to help people on their weight loss journey. I think anyone that needs a little motivation could benefit from it. We do it every January, so we do have all of our teams now. We’re up to 21 teams so, if you didn’t get in on it this year maybe next year you could join,” said Weir.

Even if you missed out on joining this years “thinner winner” challenge, it’s never too late to set and achieve your fitness goals.
