Zanesville City Council meeting

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Zanesville City Council had its first meeting of 2018.
An ordinance was passed that allows the Public Service Department to apply for the Community Development Recycling Grant. The grant is responsible for up to $200,000 worth of help for cities to try to improve their recycling programs. Public Service & Development Director Jay Bennett said they applied for this grant before but, were denied. He says he thinks it will be different this time.
“I think it’s what we’ve looked at as far as what we’re offering is a match. We were kind of offering equipment, trucks. We’re going to come back and say no we’re going to match that recycling to recycling container and some other things like education,” said Bennett.
Bennett said if the city is able to get the grant it would allow the city to recycle more and have less solid waster. Sue Culbertson was also sworn in as Clerk of Council for Zanesville City Council by president Daniel Vincent. She was also signed into office by Mayor Jeff Tilton.
