State Representative Brian Hill provides update on broadband internet
ZANESVILLE, Ohio- State Representative Brian Hill was also in attendance this morning. He took a few minutes to chat about what’s going on in the state house.
Hill said sessions will begin again next week and will be focused on many topics including broadband internet service. Hill said this issue is important because there are still many people in rural areas that don’t have access to broadband internet.
“Still a lot of push on broadband. Trying to get broadband out to more and more areas of rural Ohio. Especially southeastern Ohio. We’re struggling there. So we’ll be having hearings with…and getting more updates from those providers as we move forward,” Hill said. “AT&T have made advancements to help the area and I hope there’s just more to come with something that is Connect Ohio funds and funds that were generated through federal dollars. We’re trying to find a way here in Ohio to actually stimulate through the deregulation process. Still having people want to invest in the southeastern part of the state.”
If everything works out, the plan will bring broadband internet to nearly 37,000 across Southeast Ohio.
