Chamber of Commerce to host workers comp meeting for employers

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation is hosting a meeting to kick off a new initiative to promote health and wellness in the workplace.
The Zanesville Chamber of Commerce is hosting the meeting for employers to learn more information about how to make the workplace safer and healthier. Dana Matz, President of the Chamber, said this is to help promote a new initiative.
“The Chamber of Commerce locally manages safety counsel for the Bureau Workers Compensation. Working with the Bureau of Workers Compensation office in Cambridge we’re helping them promote this ‘Better You, Better Ohio’ initiative that they have. Specific for businesses of 50 employees or less and specific industries.”
Matz said businesses can improve their bottom line by improving wellness and safety among their employees.
“It’s a way to improve wellness in the workplace. So a healthier workforce is in turn a safer workforce. So improved wellness and improved safety in the workplace improves the bottom line for area businesses.”
There will be different topics discussed at the meeting to educate employers on measures they can take to adopt the ‘Better You, Better Ohio’ plan.
“So the Bureau of Workers Compensation has partnered with another entity who specializes in wellness. So the advantage of this and working with them you’ll be able to help your employees and help your company get a snapshot of the health and wellbeing, lifestyle improvements, conditioning coaching, and those types of little things. So there’s actually even going to be a 24 hour nurse line.”
The meeting will take place January 22nd from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the John McIntire Library Meeting Room 5. You can visit the Chamber of Commerce website to see if you’re industry or business qualifies.
