Herchik tops Kinder in friendly game of 21

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Unfortunately, due to the weather, all area high school basketball games were cancelled on Tuesday night. So what do two sports reporters do when there is no basketball to cover? They head to the Muskingum Recreation Center for a friendly game of 21.
Every game starts with a hand-shake and a tip-ball; Matthew Herchik won the tip and proceeded to knock down a jump shot from the elbow to score the match-ups first points.
After jumping out to a 4-0 lead, David Kinder got on the board with a basket inside the paint, but was quickly pushed back to 0 after being tipped on his free-throw attempt.
Just minutes into the match-up both Herchik and Kinder were sucking wind with hands on their hips, and showing why they cover sports professionally, as opposed to playing them.
Herchik ultimately pulled away for the win by a final of 21-1. Stay tuned for a competition on the football field later this year.
