Leroy Neiman exhibition displayed at Muskingum University

NEW CONCORD, Ohio- One local university has partnered with an art foundation to display world renowned artwork on their campus. 

Sunday, many gathered gathered at Muskingum University as it partnered with The Leroy Neiman Foundation to host “Action”, an exhibition of Leroy Neiman’s champions.

“Their opening the exhibit. This is an exhibit of 75 of Leroy’s drawings and sketches he made during his life. It depicts primarily athletes in motion,” said Director of The Leroy Neiman Foundation, and Muskingum University alum, Jim Purdy.

“We are very excited about this, because it is a wonderful connection with one of alums. So, you’ve already talked to Jim Purdy and because of his connection with The Neiman Foundation, we have the opportunity to show his works for the first time in the state of Ohio”, said Susan Hasseler, President of Muskingum University.

In addition to having great community support and sponsorship, one Muskingum University professor says his students worked very diligently to help orchestrate this exhibition.

“My student team worked in the exhibition hanging the pictures, arranging things everywhere, and all of the details. They learned a lot, like how to organize a professional exhibition,”said Yan Sun, Chair of Muskingum University Art Department.

The exhibition will be open from January 22- April 14. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m- 3:30 p.m, Saturday, 1:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m and closed on Sunday.  The display is free and open to the public.
