ZANESVILLE, Ohio- One local play writer who is very involved in the Zanesville community has put on his first production of the new year!

Sunday, many gathered at The Renner Theater for the production, “The Boxcar Children”, put on by Rich Tolliver.

“The boxcar children is a great family show that’s based on a huge series of books that were very popular and it takes place during the depression era. It’s about a group of children who lose their parents unfortunately in a drowning accident, while saving them. It’s all about how the children stick together, stay together and become a very solid family unit,” said Rich Tolliver, Director.

With about 20 people making up the cast, Tolliver says preparations for this event took lots of time, and encourages the community to come out and support the show.

“It takes a lot of time to prepare for a show like this. Especially because some of our children are only seven years old and it’s a very deep character study. I think this is a good one to come out to because it’s a good story and it takes you out of your everyday life and lets you see maybe how fortunate you are and it’s entertaining,” said Tolliver.

The show continues this Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m and Sunday at 2:30 P.M. For more information pertaining to show times and ticket prices, contact the Renner Theater at 740.453.8481
