Mitzel Receives 2018 Governors Award for the Arts
ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A local community member has certainly made his mark on Zanesville.
With years of community involvement and paving the way for many, artist, David Mitzel, has received the 2018 governor’s award for arts and community development.
“Well this is the governor’s award in the arts. The award I’m receiving is one for community development and participation. This is something that I’ve been working at for a while,” said Mitzel.
As someone whose helped implement programs such as “Groundhog Day”, “The First Friday Art Walk” and “Appalachian Hills”, Mitzel says it’s all for the greater good of the community.
“I look at my job at Ohio University with community education and development, being head of the community foundation and now this award from the Governor. It’s all about community and that’s what we’re creating. All of us are making this place into a magnificent place to be,” said Mitzel.
The award ceremony will take place May 16th in downtown Columbus. Congratulations to David Mitzel on all of your hard work and accomplishments.
