First Friday Art Walk kicks off this weekend

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The First Friday Art Walk has become an event that many in the community look forward to. Local artists come together and showcase their pieces to the public.

As Friday kicks off the First Friday Art Walk for the month of February, we spoke to local artist, Gail Glagola about her work and the upcoming show.

“When I moved to Zanesville, one of the things I found was the Goodwill store and I thought to myself ‘What can I incorporate from the Goodwill store into a piece of art.’ Essentially welcoming my art talents to Zanesville. So I went to the Goodwill store and found jeans in the colors red, black and blue and decided they would make a great transformation piece,” said Glagola.

Although Glagola is new to the Zanesville community, she said she gets excited for events like the First Friday Art Walk.

“As a new person to Zanesville, I was excited to know that they had the First Friday Art Walk. One of the advantages to this is meeting new people. Also, you get to learn Zanesville and see what Zanesville has to offer. It’s small but it’s getting mighty and this is the beauty of it,” said Glagola.

Over 20 of Gail’s art pieces will be on display in the library for the entire month of February. To check out these pieces and more, come out to the First Friday Art Walk this Friday.
