Challenging Petition for Sheriff

A local law enforcement official is challenging Noble County Sheriff Steve Hannum’s petition for sheriff.

Caldwell Chief of Police, Denny Knowlton, submitted the petition to the Noble County Board of Elections on January 29th. He specifies in the petition that Hannum needs to meet one of two conditions specified by the Ohio Revised Code but notes Hannum meets neither.

Therefore, the board of elections will be holding a hearing on the matter at its office Monday, February 22 at four p.m. Both parties will present their sides of the issue.

Director, Donna Moore, says the office has been in contact with both the County Prosecutor and the Secretary of State if a further investigation of the matter is needed.
