ROSEVILLE, Ohio- A Doctor is taking off his stethoscope after practicing medicine in Roseville for 35 years.

Dr. Jack Butterfield Jr. M.D. wanted to go to medical school over 40 years ago and was engaged to a girl from Roseville. He said Roseville was looking for a new doctor and his medical school would be paid for if he agreed to become a doctor in the town. He said looking back after 35 years of practice, he wouldn’t do it any differently.

“One of the things I’m most proud of is that my office staff literally has never turned over. They know everyone in town and patients know who they are going to see when they come into the office. I think that provided them comfort because when people come here, if it’s not for a well visit, it’s because they’re hurting in someway,” said Dr. Butterfield.

Dr. Butterfield said the biggest thing he is looking forward to is being able to spend more time with his family.

“I have seven grandchildren and another one on the way. All of them live out of state. So we don’t get to participate in their lives as much as we want to. My wife and I plan to remedy that right away,” said Dr. Butterfield.

There will be an open house retirement party on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the Roseville Community Center.
