ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Muskingum Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting a Wildlife Symposium next month.

The symposium is in partnership with Zane State College and will take place at the Campus Center at OUZ Zane State. Nicole Hafer, the Education and Wildlife Specialist for the Muskingum SWCD said this is the perfect opportunity for hunter, fishing, or gardening enthusiasts.

“Anybody that has any interest in wildlife whether you’re a landowner who wants to manage your property for wildlife or you’re just a gardener or want to know more about the species that we have in this area.”

The symposium will cover several different topics such as mushroom I.D., deer, native bees, and more. Middle and high school students with an interest in wildlife are also invited to attend the symposium and listen to the speakers.

“We have 24 different speakers on a whole variety of different wildlife related topics. And we have two speakers for each 30 minute sessions. So you can choose between which speaker that you would like to go see. And we have both game and nongame species.”

Registration for the symposium is now open. The cost is $20 and includes a light breakfast, lunch, and all conference materials. The Symposium is March 24th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You can find the registration form on the Muskingum SWCD website or on Facebook.
