Lady Bishops open post-season with win over Caldwell

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — The Rosecrans Lady Bishops opened their tournament run on Thursday night with a 69-61 win over Caldwell.

Rosecrans got off to a quick start, opening a ten-point lead after the first quarter, but Caldwell battled back to the make the margin to just one heading into halftime. Griffith scored 10 of her 19 points in the third quarter for the Lady Redskins.

The second half saw the Lady Bishops reassert themselves as they carried a six-point advantage into the fourth quarter, before using their perfect free-throw shooting night to seal the victory in the final minutes of the game. Rosecrans shot 23-23 from the free throw line as a team in the win.

Jessie Durant lead four Lady Bishops in double-figures with 19 points on the night. Claire Creeks chipped in 18, while Kailey Zemba scored 15, and Tessa Littick added 11.

Rosecrans, the 6-seed, will now take on 3-seed Forte Frye in the Sectional Final on Saturday at Fort Frye. That game will tip-off at 2 p.m.
