Dorothy Renner

Dorothy L. Renner, 99, of Zanesville died at her home on Friday, February 23, 2018. Born to Herbert and Lorena Gerke Caldwell in 1918 grew up in German Village in Columbus; she graduated from South High School and attended The Ohio State University.  Resident of Zanesville since 1947. Avid swimmer, gardener and participant in local community theatre. One of the founders of Zane Trace Players, and received the Secrest Award for Arts in 1987. Member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church where she sang for many years in the choir.

Preceded in death by her husband Dr. Wilbur W. Renner; brother, Henry G. Caldwell; sister, Lorena J. Hawley; and son-in-law, David Fergus.

Survived by daughters, Constance Renner of Zanesville, Carol Fergus and Christine (Robert) Masheter of Columbus; grandchildren, William Fergus, Paul Fergus, Mark Fergus, Lee (Lauren) Masheter, Amy (Philip) Masheter-Daniels, and Alexander Masheter; a great-granddaughter Sarah (Chris) Alverson; and great-great grandchildren Joshua and Elizabeth Alverson. Private graveside burial at Zanesville Memorial Park to be followed by celebration of life at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church on Friday, March 2, 2018 with visitation from 12:00 P.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Andrew Wilson officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Lutheran Hour (LHM.org) or Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
