MCCF to host College Night and give out scholarships

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Muskingum County Community Foundation has some important deadlines for students coming up soon.
The Community Foundation offers multiple scholarships for students and the deadline to apply is on March 20th. The Foundation will now have extended hours on Mondays and Tuesdays starting March 12th to help students interested in applying for the scholarships.
“They can come here and we can help them apply for the scholarships. They all require a little bit of an essay and if you..sometimes it’s helpful to have someone else read your essay and make sure you have everything lined up that way so when you submit your application it’s ready to go,” said Heather Sands-Davis the Director of Educational Programs at MCCF.
In addition to scholarship deadlines, students have an opportunity to win a $250 scholarship by attending the Foundation’s College Night. The event is open to students in the 7th through 12th grades and their parents throughout the region. The event will feature panels for the parents and students to attend.
“There are so many topics to cover. Anything from helping being prepared for life beyond high school such as what career are you going to pursue to what major,” said Sands-Davis. “Do you attend a two year or a four year school? How do you get financial aid? How do you get free money for college? Also how do I handle living with a roommate or college life?”
Over 20 scholarships will be given out at College Night which will take place on March 15th from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the OUZ-Zane State Campus Center. The event is free and registration is available on the MCCF’s website. If you don’t pre-register online you will be able to register at the door, but space is limited. Students must be in attendance to receive the scholarship. MCCF said they are still accepting donations for the scholarships.
