Student Charged with making Terroristic Threats

An 8th grade student at Liberty Middle School in Newark is under arrest for making threats at school.

The Newark Police Department said on Tuesday they were contacted by school staff about the student, who made several comments to multiple classmates about shooting other students at the school.

Police said the staff interviewed these classmates and confirmed the 8th grade student made detailed comments about shooting other members of the school, they then spoke to the 8th grade student.

The student admitted to making the comments.

Newark Police made contact with the suspect’s parents, who brought the student to the Newark Police Station for questioning, where he was placed under arrest for the charge of making terroristic threats.
