ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A local teacher is striving to encourage children’s love for reading at an early age.

Wednesday,  The South Zanesville Library welcomed 150 preschoolers from the Maysville School District as they learned all about what the library has to offer.

“We are very very excited. We are having our first preschool visit with Maysville Local School District. A teacher contacted our south branch library and requested that they bring 75 in in the morning and 75 children in the afternoon and so we’re very to have them come in,” said Branch Services Coordinator, Beth Brown.

Brown said the children will be divided into three stations and the day will conclude with the excitement of each student receiving their library cards.

“When the children come in, maybe a quarter of them have been to the library before. So they will come in and we will talk about all the wonderful things the library has to offer. I think a lot of times people and children do not realize what the library has. And we will divide them into stations do well have twenty five children who will pick out their special book, bring it to our circulation desk and check them out with their brand new library card,” said Brown.

The Muskingum County Library Systems offers programs to advance children’s learning all year around. For more information regarding upcoming events,  head into your nearest library branch or visit muskingumcountylibrary.org.
