Local family teams up with Christ’s Table for suicide awareness meal

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- A local woman is teaming up with Christ’s Table to host a suicide awareness meal and they’re in need of donations.
Charlotte Yarus is on a mission to raise awareness about suicide. She wants to get the word out that there is help available for those who are struggling and may think suicide is their only option. Yarus put together a community meal to raise awareness and honor those who took their lives including her nephew Devin Lunn.
“My son killed hisself and it is a problem and people don’t realize it until it hits home,” said Margaret Roberts whose son Devin committed suicide. “And a lot of people don’t like to talk about it because it is such a hard subject, but people need to start speaking to their children more about it.”
Yarus and her family want to keep other families from experiencing the pain they feel. Yarus says the event is in need of volunteers and food donations.
“Hamburger, brats, hamburger buns, hot dog buns, hot dogs. Anything easy. Vegetables and desserts and drinks,” said Charlotte Yarus who is organizing the event.
The meal will be on May 6th at Christ’s Table from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Any donations can be dropped off to Christ’s Table during normal business hours. The family is also selling t-shirts for the event with all of the proceeds going to Christ’s Table.
