James B. (Jim) Fleming

Zanesville—James B. (Jim) Fleming, 53 (forever 29), of Zanesville, left this Earth on Sunday, March 18, 2018, at OSU Medical Center in Columbus.  His spirit was strong, but his body was tired.  He was born in Zanesville on February 28, 1965, to Glenna J. (Spence) and A. Richard Fleming, who both survive him, the fourth of six children.  Jim graduated from high school in 1983 from Maysville High School.  He leaves behind his beloved wife Wendi, who was his dedicated advocate, partner, and caretaker, who he treated like a princess.  Her parents, John and Rosemary, also survive him. In addition he leaves five children, Chrystal (Barry) Priest, Bill Priest, Joni (James) Hamilton, Bryan Fleming, and Austin Rice.  Five grandchildren survive him:  Rylie and Kason Priest, Daunte Wallace, Kendric Williamson, and Josey Hamilton.  He has three brothers, Jeff (Lynn) Fleming of Fishers, Indiana, Jay (Theresa) Fleming of Zanesville, and Jerry Dean (Michelle) Fleming of Hillsboro, Missouri.  His sisters are Jan (Frank) Phillips, of Columbus, and Jeanie (Tracey) Presley, of Zanesville. Brother-in-law Jayme (Deidra) Rice and sister-in-law Lori Rice, survive him, as well.  He has several nieces and nephews:  Jon and Brady Fleming, Austin, Aidan, and Alec Fleming, Alex, Andrew, and Ana Presley, Shyana and Madison Rice, and Casey and Sonny Conn.  He has three aunts and several cousins.  Two of his friends, Bret (Chris) Rexroad and Ronnie (Bear) Wilson, survive him. He spent his working career of 27 years at Walmart, mainly as an assistant manager.  He loved playing with his grandchildren, riding his Harley, spending time with his family, and last, but not least, making people smile.  A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive, White Cottage.  In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to a charity of your choice.
