ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Many kids look forward to Easter participating in egg hunts and digging through baskets of candy — but not all kids get to do that.

Christ’s Table passed out Easter baskets to local kids who may not have gotten one otherwise. Executive Director Keely Warden said they couldn’t have done this without the help of the community. She said one family makes chocolate for the baskets and other volunteers help fill them.

“When we put that plea out there we need 50 Easter baskets filled it always happens,” said Warden. “This is just not those that we serve it’s family and, you know, you want your family to have a happy Easter and have a little basket and so do we with our family.”

Warden said the holiday isn’t just for kids, but for adults as well. That’s why she was pleased when First Baptist Church of South Zanesville put together blessing bags to pass out to the grown ups.

“As the people leave we’re also going to give them a complimentary bag of toiletry items that they might need along with a bag that they can use to carry them in as our gift to them because we want to be able to help them have a better day, understand the love of Christ,” said David Nuhfer the Pastor of First Baptist Church of South Zanesville.

Members from Starlight also stopped by Christ’s Table today to help serve the meals.
