Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office car auction

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office will be having one of its car auctions on Saturday, April 7th starting at 10 A.M.

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said there are over 60 cars available for purchase. All of the money raised from the auction will go back into helping fund the Sheriff’s Office.

“A lot of this money goes to recover the cost of paying tow bills. We have storage fees on some of these cars and so a lot of that is generated to back in and just pay for funds that we’ve paid out to get those cars here. We do use some of the funds for an employee who helps take care of this program,” said Sheriff Lutz.

Sheriff Lutz said previous sales have each raised several thousands of dollars. He said the Sheriff’s Office collects these cars several different ways.

“It could be from a car that broke down on the side of the road, it could be from a crash, basically it’s vehicles that we do not need to keep as evidence but, there’s no else place to tow it,” said Sheriff Lutz.

The car auction will be held at the Sheriff’s Office Evidence Building, located at 1470 Old Adamsville Road.
