Educational and musical experience at Secrest Auditorium
ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Over 600 fourth graders got a break from the classroom and were able to see a world renown musician.
The Zanesville Concert Association hosted award-winning organist Cameron Carpenter.
He performed at Secrest Auditorium as part of his second world tour.
Jim McLaughlin with the Zanesville Concert Association said the children were impressed as soon as they walked through the doors.
“None of them have auditoriums so, first of all, just coming to Secrest Auditorium, they’re going ‘Oh Ah’ what’s an auditorium. But this is a world-famous artist on his second world tour and they’ve probably never seen a world famous artist before,” said McLaughlin.
Carpenter plays a five keyboard digital organ. McLaughlin said between the unique instrument and Carpenter’s talents the kids saw an incredible show.
“Since it’s such a high technology they’ll be hearing music from movies, from classical songs, and it’ll expand their horizons of what this one instrument can do. It’s like a full orchestra,” said McLaughlin.
This show brings a conclusion to the Zanesville Concert Association 79th season. For next seasons shows go to Zanesville Concert Association website.
