Education students at OUZ participate in mock interviews

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- It’s graduation season and many soon-to-be grads are looking for their first post college jobs.

Education students at Ohio University Zanesville got ahead of the game participating in mock interviews. The interviews held by local school teachers gave the students a chance to refine their interviewing skills.

“Today each of them are getting three interviews with area principals or classroom teachers. Each about a half hour long. And they’re also meeting with the alumni, a group of alumni, who are also classroom teachers to hear about their experiences since they graduated from here,” said Jon Carroll the Education Program Assistant at OUZ.

After the mock interviews are over the students will receive feedback on how their mock interviews went so they’ll be ready for the real deal.

“When we’re all done with that we’re going to have a nice dinner and then have a time for more questions from the interns about what to expect in interviews, some do’s and don’ts, some etiquette, job search strategy, those types of things so that they can be better prepared for the job search process,” said Carroll.

The students are currently interning at local schools where they are gaining real life experience.
