Streets being repaved in Zanesville

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The City of Zanesville will soon begin paving and resurfacing 14 streets.
Major resurfacing will be done to several roads including Military Road and Shinnick Street. City Engineer Chip Saunders said the road work will be more than just patching a few spots on the road.
“Military Road from North Point Drive to Fairway Lane. That is approximately a mile and that’s going to get a two-inch overlay. We will most likely close Military Rd. for a short time while we’re doing paving. Just because of the width of the operation. It’s really not something you can do with flaggers very well,” said Saunders.
Saunders said roads will be closed down to one lane which could lead to lengthy delays. He said drivers should use an alternate route if possible.
“You’re going to get there quicker. You might have to go around but, it’s going to be safer for you, and it’s going to be safer for the workers. We tend to try and restrict as much access as possible when we’re doing our work,” said Saunders.
Saunders said, weather permitting, the paving should be completed by May 18th.
