Attempted child abduction in Newark

NEWARK, Ohio–Newark Police are investigating an attempted child abduction.

Authorities said at approximately 4:00 pm on Tuesday, April 24th,  a man approached a 10-year-old victim in the area of Marion Ct. and E. Main St.

Police said  the suspect wasn’t able to entice the child into his vehicle. He then attempted to grab the child but the victim was able to get away and run home.

The suspect was described as approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, heavy-set and was wearing a black hat and tan coat. The suspect was driving a black SUV possibly a Chevy Trail Blazer.
