Carr Center Cake Auction takes over Colony Square Mall
ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The 32nd annual Carr Cake Auction kicked off this morning at Colony Square Mall.
The Carr Center has been serving the Zanesville community for more than 60 years. The Cake Auction has served as their main fundraiser providing support to their work. This year over 380 cakes are up for grabs to the highest bidder.
“The Cake Auction subsidizes all of our programs. And so we would have to really cut back quite a lot of service if we didn’t have this wonderful fundraiser,” said Kim Hosler the Executive Director at the Carr Center. “But fortunately, it’s really supported by this community and it’s just a win for all of us.”
This year the committee tried something new to give more people opportunities to bid on cakes.
”So this year we have this thing, it’s called “secure a bid” and you can just go online to our website and hit the “secure a bid” link. And you can place your bid for the item you would like to bid on and place your maximum amount you’d like to bid,” said Hosler. “And then we’ll secure that bid for you. And if you can be on standby with your phone we can actually call you back and say, ‘It’s getting close do you want to bid it up anymore?’.
The Cake Auction will continue until tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. For a complete list of the items available tomorrow you can visit the Carr Center website.
