Update: A Pipe Bomb Was Found in Perry County
There were some tense moments in the Perry County Village of Somerset Monday after a county resident found what she thought was a pipe bomb and took it to the Somerset Police Chief’s Office and laid it on his desk. Perry County Deputy Sergeant Doug Gill says the Franklin County Bomb Squad was called and has determined that it was an actual pipe bomb. Sergeants Gill says the device was detonated around 5:00 p.m. outside of the village. Everything is back to normal now, but Monday afternoon all of the businesses in the Somerset Square were evacuated as a precaution. There’s no word on any possible charges and no injuries were reported. State Route 13 into the village was also closed for safety reasons but has also been reopened to traffic.
