Napping Helps

Medical professionals have always expressed the importance of getting eight hours of sleep at night, so your body will function well the next day, but in our busy society, it’s hard for some of us to find the time to get that much sleep every night. That, in turn, can take a toll on our bodies and make it difficult to get through the day.

So, doctors are now saying that naps will help.

"There has been some studies done that say taking an hour to an hour and a half nap in the afternoon refreshes the person’s body and their brain. It actively makes them more productive at work after the nap, " says Dr. Vicki Whitacre of the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department.

Whitacre says it will allow people to think more clearly.

"Things you have learned that day are going to be re-cataloged while you sleep, and then you can bring them up, use them better, " says Whitacre.

If you can’t find time for a nap though, exercise and a good diet also help renew your brain and keep it active.
