Day of Recovery

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Genesis Behavioral Health will have its second ‘Day of Recovery’ event at Zane Landing Park in downtown Zanesville.
‘Day of Recovery’ is for anyone interested in learning about community resources to help those struggling with addiction or mental illness. Manager of Therapeutic Services, Denise Williams, said this event is a low-pressure environment for people searching for help.
“There’s a lot of stigmas that goes along with mental health and addiction services and people are sometimes reluctant to seek services. So, in this environment, it’s a more of a fun environment,” said Williams.
The event is free and open to the public. There will be food, guest speakers, and music. Williams said this event was started as a way to show the community what behavioral health organizations do, as well as make themselves all available at one place.
“Many times these services are behind closed doors and nobody knows that the services are out there. So, it’s an opportunity for all the services to be showcased at one place and community members can walk around from table to table and talk to the different service providers,” said Williams.
The event is Saturday May 5th, from 11 A.M. to 3 P.M. National Alliance on Mental Illness is also hosting a Recovery Walk at Zane Landing starting at 10 A.M.
