ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The return of Spring also means the return of the Zanesville Farmers Market.

Saturday marked the opening of the market and many vendors were excited to be selling their products. Returning vendor Sharon Bauer said she is happy to be back selling her homemade jellies and jams.

“I make it all myself, jams, jellies, sauces, mustard,” said Bauer. “Everything that I can possibly use fresh local produce, I use it in my products. Hot mustard is definitely very popular, then probably pineapple-peach jam. My personal favorite is tart cherry.”

Bauer also said she is excited about some of the changes that have been made to the market for the upcoming season, the most notable change is that all produce will come from local farms.

“It was a good opening day, and we hope to see a lot more people out,” said Bauer. “People get out and see the local produce and buy from local people and that’s the thing we’re really trying to emphasize. This year all of our produce at our market is 100% locally grown. There will be nobody bringing in produce.”

The market runs every Saturday morning through the end of October.
