Pet of the Week: National Adoption Weekend

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Buttercup is a 9-week old kitten. He is an orange tabby domestic short hair who came into the shelter with his brother. Director Jody Murray said Buttercup is people loving and a inquisitive little cat.
“He’s just a great little cat. He likes to be held. As with all of our animals, we like to have their stay as short as possible here at the shelter. He is obviously ready to find his fur-ever home,” said Murray.
Buttercup’s adoption fee is $70. The Animal Shelter Society will also be taking part in National Adoption Weekend. Pets from the shelter will be up for adoption at Pet Smart Friday May 18th, Saturday, May 19th, and Sunday, May 20th. The animal shelter will also be at Pet Valu on Saturday and Zemba Brothers on Sunday. People can also go to the events and find out more information about becoming a volunteer.
“If you want to come and check out what we do, we’ll have a couple of our volunteers there. I’ll more than likely be at all the events. I’m the volunteer coordinator here so I love talking to people about coming out and getting involved,” said Murray.
The animal shelter will also be having its annual Paws and Claws Summer Jam on June 2nd. This year the Summer Jam will have a hog raffle. Raffle tickets will be on sale for $5.
