Dorothy Marie Searls Dodson, 90, Zanesville, Ohio passed away at 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born, November 20, 1927 in White Cottage, Ohio to the late James and Mildred Moyer Searls. Dorothy was beloved by many and her family was the center of her world. She retired from Springfield Bell School in 1991 after 25 years of lovingly preparing lunch daily for thousands of school children. Dorothy was a member of Rolling Plains United Methodist Church and looked forward to attending the monthly luncheons of the Christian Women’s Club of Zanesville. She is survived by three daughters, Lala Gullet, Judy (Rudy) Stanbery, Shelby Butcher; four sons, Clyde (Roxanne) Dodson, Jr., Floyd (Kristy) Dodson, Sr., Jeff (Chris) Dodson and Craig (Joyce) Dodson; 25 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren; brother David (Leona) Searls, brother-in-law David Dodson and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Dodson, Sr., son-in-laws Glen Gullet and Melvin Butcher, grandsons Dale Gullet, Brian York and Kyle Dodson, great grandson Derek Paul and great granddaughter Amy Jo Lynn Conklin. Family and friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday June 1, 2018 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home 5765 Gladstone Drive White Cottage where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 2, 2018 with Pat Wiseman-Jones officiating.
