Catherine Harnetty

Catherine Jean Harnetty, age 91 of Zanesville, died 6:35 AM, Monday, September 10, 2018, at Primrose Retirement Community in Zanesville.

She was born Sunday, July 17, 1927, in Zanesville, the daughter of Edwin L Schafer and Bernice (Warner) Schafer. She was married to Thomas R. “Bob” Harnetty who preceded her in death on Monday, August 6, 1973.

She was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church.

Catherine is survived by a daughter: Amy (Pat) Marshall of Reynoldsburg; a son: Thomas A. (Jo Ann) Harnetty of Zanesville; two grandchildren: Rachel Harnetty and Thomas R. Harnetty, II; two sisters: Pauline Archer, and Judy Kessler of Charleston, one brother: Ronald Schaffer of Louisville, KY and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Strahler.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Catherine’s name to Hospice of Central Ohio, 1166 Military Road, Suite A, Zanesville, OH, 43701.

Friends may call from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville. A prayer service will be held Thursday, at 7:45 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM on Friday, September 14, 2018 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 1020 East Main Street, Zanesville with Father Martin Ralko as celebrant.
