Semi Accident Closes Cherry Valley Road

Crews are working to contain a fuel leak after a semi truck crashed into a bridge on Cherry Valley Road in Licking County.

It happened just before 3 P.M. Wednesday.

WHIZ News Reporter Audry Kensicki is on the scene and says a semi was travelling on Cherry Valley Road when it lost control and crashed into a bridge.

The semi’s trailer went over the bridge into Raccoon Creek and now the cab is hanging from the bridge.

She says the truck’s fuel tank ruptured and is leaking fuel into the creek.

The Licking County Hazmat Team is working to contain the leak.

The Newark Police Department along with several area fire departments are also on the scene.

At this time Cherry Valley Road is closed between Reddington and Granville Roads.

The accident remains under investigation.
