Shelter Place to Cool Off
The mercury in thermometers is going to be pushing past the 90 degree mark tomorrow across much of our area, and with the humidity, it’s going to feel even hotter.
If you’re looking to get a break from the heat, the Salvation Army can help. Shelter Manager, Jeff Krouskoupf, says it’s open to anyone needing a cool place to stay.
“We have room for about 35 residents here. So, as long as they have a picture ID and a Social Security Card, and they pass the drug test, they’re welcome to come in, ” says Jeff.
The shelter has the number one object everyone scrambles for on a sweltering summer day…air conditioning.
“We try to help them out as much as we can. Some people like it a little bit cooler, some hotter, so we try to put a fan on people that can’t stand the heat as much as some of the others. So, we try to make them as comfortable as we can, ” says Shelter Manager, Joyce Krouskoupf.
Joyce says she’s sure the shelter’s attendance will go up over the next few days, until things cool off.
