Church Holds a Free Clothing Giveaway
As the beginning of the new school year draws close, one local church is giving away clothing and supplies
St. Paul AME Church has collected clothes and supplies for 2 months. Organizers say the event is so popular that people were waiting in line for the doors to open this morning. Clothing ranged from children’s sizes all the way to plus sized adults. For organizers, the greatest gift was being able to help others and teach their children a lesson in giving.
Costella Haley, Youth Director and Giveaway Organizer says,”It is teaching my kids a lesson that there are others less fortunate than we and you know showing them how to lend a helping hand and show them how truly blessed they are.”
And the children got the message.
“I gave away half my clothes… so did I”, says Langstyn Jones and Brenna Johnson.
There was no limit on the amount of clothes a person could take and all extras will be given to the Salvation Army.
