Opening Ceremonies for Fair

The 163rd Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fair is officially underway.

The opening ceremonies took place this evening with people crowding into the Grand Stands.

Muskingum County Farmer Irv Bell was asked to help cut the blue ribbon, but in a little different fashion. He told two tractors to rev their engines and go!

“The fair is part of us, part of our family, and we call ourselves “fair junkies”. So, to be asked to do this was special, ” says Bell.

Bell is a fifth generation farmer in his family and just received a special honor at the Ohio State Fair. He was inducted into the Ohio Agriculture Hall of Fame.

“It’s been in existence for 40 years. There are four people honored each year, and to be chosen as one of those is extremely honoring and very humbling, ” says Bell.

The Muskingum County Blue Ribbon Fair will continue through Saturday, August 22nd.
