Dental Hygiene Month

October marks National Dental Hygiene Month, which Muskingum Valley Health Center Registered Dental Hygenist, Erin McDonough, says can be a family affair.

She says you need to come in every six months for a regular check-up.

“Regular cleaning appointments and also regular dental appointments will help aid in the prevention and the early detection of gum disease, bone loss, and also cavities, ” says McDonough.

McDonough says she understands that in this day and age, dental insurance is hard to afford and hard to come by, but she says the Muskingum Valley Health Center can help patient make sure they get their regular check-ups.

“We go based on patient proof of income. The patient pays a percentage based on the income and how many people are in their household. They’ll pay a percentage of the total dental costs, ” says McDonough.

McDonough says to help promote dental hygiene, the Muskingum Valley Health Center tries to reach out to young children to start health habits at an early age.
