“Meet the Candidate” Night

Six candidates are hoping to become a Muskingum Township Trustee, and they spoke out to the community tonight to let people know where they stand on certain issues.

The Muskingum Township Fire Department held a
“Meet the Candidate” night at the fire station.

Steven Buck was the moderator of the event.

“Try to make sure everyone has a fair chance to present their views and why they think they would be the best candidate for the job, ” says Buck.

Buck says it’s important for local residents to attend events like these.

“Government starts at the local level, and you can’t get much more local than a township trustee position. They are the people that are certainly closest to where people live and are the people that frequently the most interested in what’s going on in their community, ” says Buck.

Five of the six candidates took part in the forum tonight. Buck says unfortunately, Incumbent John Bunting wasn’t able to attend because he is at the hospital, but Bunting gave a formal statement for the Muskingum Township Fire Chief to read to those attending.

The six candidates are:
-Incumbent John Bunting
-Incumbent Steve Fusner
-Brian Williams
-Byron Jay Vandenbark
-Lynn Sellars
-Mike Maniaci
