Staying Healthy During the Holidays
For most of us it’s hard stay healthy during the holidays. But one family says for them it’s a lifestyle and about feeling good.
"It’s just a matter of feeling good it’s a stress relief. I always say you can’t fit your exercise in your life you have to fit your life into your life into your exercise or you’ll never do it," Chris said.
Chris York and her son Logan are regulars at the Field House. She says it’s important to keep your workouts consistent but sometimes the holidays can get in the way.
"It’s a lifestyle choice I didn’t get to do it on Thursday because of Thanksgiving so i made sure that I’m in here I’m usually in here 6 to 7 days a week," Chris said.
She says she’s careful not to over eat.
"No I don’t usually over eat. I was very careful of my portions," Chris said.
But she does treat herself here and there.
"I don’t deprive myself that’s for sure but I feel like if I do splurge a little bit that I’m in here in the gym working out so it’s not as big of a deal but if I have a cookie I’m working it off tomorrow but I’m not going to have five cookies," Chris explains.
Logan says the hardest part about the holidays is all the delicious food.
"I just try to cut my portions down a lot and try not to eat as much," Logan said.
He tells me he gets that from his mom. Chris says he has Spina Bifida.
"He has no feeling from the knee down he’s in a wheel chair so he’s not as active as most normal kids so we make sure he comes in and does the track gets that little bit of exercise."
Logan says he hits the gym at least twice a week because it’s important to stay healthily and keep muscles strong all year.
"I just go around the track a couple times and try to get my heart beat up," Logan said.
"He loves it he’s very social so he likes being here and getting to visit with people," Chris said.
Chris says some days he doesn’t always want to workout it but he understands the importance of it. She admits there are days she dreads it but does it anyway and always feels great.
