Meat Prices May Rise by Summertime
When you head to the grocery store this summer, you may notice rising prices at the meat counter.
Some industry analysts are calling for record prices.
"This month alone, in some areas of the country, the pork and beef product has gone up anywhere from 22 to 25% as far as cost goes, " says Pick ‘N’ Save store manager, Rich Daugherty.
There are two leading factors contributing to the possible rise.
"The corn used for feed is also used for ethanol. The push for ethanol product has forced some of the farmers to call their herds back to some of their lowest numbers in years," says Daugherty.
People also use more meat during the summertime to cook out.
